Set up Civly for Revit

About ten minutes. You need Windows with Revit 2024 to 2027, the licence key Civly sent you, and an AI app such as Claude.

1. Install the add-in

Download Civly for Revit

A zip of about 66 MB.

  1. Unzip it somewhere, for example your Desktop.
  2. Close Revit.
  3. Open the unzipped folder and double-click Install Civly.
If Windows shows a blue "protected your PC" box, click More info, then Run anyway. The installer only copies files into your own Revit add-ins folder.

2. Connect Revit

  1. Open Revit. If it asks about the Civly add-in, choose Always Load.
  2. Go to the Civly tab, then Settings, then Civly Cloud.
  3. Paste your licence key and press Save.

The status line reads Linked as followed by your email when it is connected.

3. Connect your AI app

In Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then:

NameCivly
URLhttps://mcp.civly.dev/mcp
AuthenticationNo sign-in
Request headerName Authorization
Value Bearer, a space, then your licence key

Save, and make sure the Civly connector is switched on in the chat.

4. Try it

Open a model in Revit, start a new chat and ask:

Use Civly to tell me what levels are in this model.

Good to know

If something is wrong

"Revit isn't connected to Civly"Revit is closed, or the Civly Cloud status line does not say Linked. Check the key and press Save again.
"This licence key is registered to another PC"The key was first used on a different computer. Ask Civly for a new key.
The installer says Revit is openClose every Revit window and run it again.
Anything elseReply to the email your key came in.

Remove

Delete the folder revit_mcp_plugin and the file mcp-servers-for-revit.addin from %APPDATA%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\<year>, and remove the Civly connector from your AI app.
